Twelve years into our marriage, Valerie told Vincent she was done. Not just frustrated. Done.
It wasn't about one big thing. It was the accumulation of years of emotional distance, unspoken hurt, and two people who had forgotten how to actually reach each other.
We were roommates at best. And we were headed toward making it official.
What happened next is the reason Couples Pursuit exists.
Through a God-ordained encounter, Vincent had a moment that broke everything open. Back at home, Valerie made a decision: she would stop praying about her husband and start praying for him instead.
That shift saved our marriage.
We've been married since May 27, 2000. And what we have today is not the same marriage we almost walked away from. It's better.
Deeper. More honest. More intentional. And it's built on principles straight from God's Word.
We've now helped many couples walk that same road. And this September, we want to help you.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE
Here's What Three Days Can Actually Do
Step 1 — Thursday Night: Meet and Greet Arrive, settle in, and breathe. Thursday night is about getting comfortable with the space and the people around you. No pressure. Just connection.
Step 2 — Friday: Two Teaching Sessions This is where we get to work. Friday includes two focused sessions built around the biblical foundations of a healthy marriage. You'll learn how to identify what's actually broken and what to do about it.
Step 3 — Saturday: One Deep Dive Session Saturday's session goes deeper. This is where most couples have their breakthrough. By this point, you've had time to process, and the real conversations start happening.
Step 4 — Sunday: Rest and Reflect Sunday is yours. Walk the beach. Sleep in. Have breakfast together without anyone asking for anything. Let what God did over the weekend settle in before you drive home.

We chose this venue on purpose. Sometimes the best thing a marriage needs is a change of scenery. It's hard to have the same old arguments when you're watching the sun set over the Atlantic.

Your registration covers all teaching sessions on Friday and Saturday, breakfast and lunch both days, matching couples tees, and all printed session materials. It does not include your hotel room or dinner.
Call Crystal Coast Oceanfront Hotel directly at (252) 247-4155, option 2. Reference "Couples Pursuit Marriage Encounter" to get the group rate. You'll pay a first-night deposit when you call. Important: the group rate expires August 10, 2026.
Ocean Front King rooms are $119 per night on Thursday and Sunday, and $199 per night on Friday and Saturday, plus 12.75% tax. You can choose to arrive Thursday, stay through Saturday, or extend to Sunday. All room charges are paid directly to the hotel.
You don't have to, but we strongly recommend it. Being on-site keeps you fully in the experience and gives you and your spouse uninterrupted time together between sessions. The group rate is a good deal for an oceanfront hotel.
Though Couples Pursuit cares deeply about your family, in order to keep your weekend free of distractions and as a courtesy to other guests, we do not allow children or pets in our sessions, including nursing infants. Only certified service animals are permitted. Emotional support animals are not included in this exception.
Yes. We are Christians, and our teaching is rooted in Biblical principles. You don't have to have it all together spiritually to attend. But you should know that our approach is grounded in God's design for marriage.
Due to the costs involved in hosting this event, we generally do not offer refunds. However, if something comes up, please reach out to us at support@couplespursuit.com as soon as possible. We will do our best to work with you on a case-by-case basis.
Not at all. We do work with couples who are in serious trouble, and this encounter is absolutely a safe place for them. But we also have couples who simply want to invest in a marriage that's already good and make it even better. All are welcome.

Every session is grounded in Biblical principles drawn directly from God's Word. This is not generic relationship advice. It is truth-based, practical teaching designed to produce real results in real marriages.
Yes! While most of the weekend is focused on sessions and couple projects, there are built-in breaks throughout. Saturday evening is yours for a date night, a walk on the beach, or simply time to process and connect with your spouse away from the group. We want you working hard and resting well.

Thursday arrival and Sunday checkout are completely optional. However, to get the full benefit of the encounter, we HIGHLY recommend you do not miss Friday's or Saturday's sessions. Those two days are the heart of the weekend, and everything builds on itself. Stepping away midway through can interrupt the process for you and your spouse.
The Couples Pursuit Marriage Encounter is designed specifically for married couples in a Biblical marriage between one husband and one wife. We hold this conviction with respect and without apology, as it is the foundation of everything we teach.
This retreat may not be the right fit if there is ongoing extramarital involvement, untreated addiction, or physical abuse without professional care and safety measures already in place. We want every couple who attends to be in a position to fully receive what God has for them over the weekend.
